As a Biotechnology Instructor, you will play a vital role in developing and delivering engaging curriculum, including Bio. Work, Corporate Training, and Bioprocess Technology courses and labs. This position also provides an opportunity to contribute to grant projects and other initiatives that support the biotechnology department’s mission.
Knowledge & Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Lead and Inspire: Teach 18-21 contact hours per semester in curriculum and/or continuing education programs, work on campus at a minimum of 20 hours a week, and hold regularly scheduled office hours. Engage and Innovate: Develop and implement hands-on, industry-relevant coursework that prepares students for success in biotechnology fields. Mentor and Guide: Counsel students on academic progress, career paths, and industry expectations. Enhance Learning Experiences: Maintain a safe and orderly lab environment, incorporating the latest biotechnology advancements. Collaborate and Grow: Work closely with the Department Chair to align curriculum with market demands and workforce trends. Assist in registration and orientation as requested by the supervisor. Support Student Success: Offer tutoring and support services to ensure student engagement and retention. Participate in student graduation and other related student activities. Stay Ahead of the Curve: Participate in professional development opportunities to bring cutting-edge knowledge to the classroom. Industry Partnerships: Assist in marketing, tracking, and retaining students while fostering relationships with biotech companies and stakeholders. Maintain & Improve: keep accurate records of student work and attendance and submit required documents by deadlines established by the college. Use your skillset to streamline processes to ensure efficient delivery of information and material to enhance the student experience. Prepare & Plan: Assist in maintaining department/curriculum equipment, supplies, and materials, and library and support resources. Support adjunct instructors: assist in orientation to job duties and campus, mentoring, access to support services, access to resources to include office supplies, lab supplies as needed, support for online education to include LMS help as needed.

Proficient in cGMP and industrial safety. Prior knowledge in Bio. Work. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Education Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Cellular / Molecular Biology, Chemistry or related discipline. Experience Minimum: 2 years of teaching experience in biotechnology or 3 years of industry experience in gene therapy, bioprocessing, cell culture or other related; Computer skills using basic functions of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, and Outlook Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in Biotechnology, Cellular/ Molecular Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline. Previous industry training experience in CGMP, Aseptic Processing, Quality Systems. Previous Community College teaching experience.
