Can create and instruct class with proper music and cueing. Basic knowledge of physiology, anatomy, health & fitness testing and weight control is essential. Demonstrate modifications of intensity and impact. Encourage and motivate participants to work at own pace. Uses proper cueing (visual, correctional and motivational)Manage and maintain equipment required for class. Use safety techniques to properly instruct students. Monitor and record class numbers for future class planning. Communicate clearly and effectively with participants making announcements prior to class. Effectively instruct and maintain a safe, learning atmosphere. Create a welcoming environment for participants. Attends staff meetings. Consistently available to sub when asked. Communicates with supervisor regarding any concerns (participants, equipment, room, etc)Accurately complete paperwork required (timesheet, accident forms, etc)Assure own professional growth through reading, studying meetings and attending conferences related to fitness classes
Typical Qualifications
Education: High School Graduate/ GED - Experience: Knowledge and/or background of the specific program, program related experience desired. Have current accredited group fitness certification (i.e. NETA, ACE, ACSM etc); specific class certification a plus (i.e. ZUMBA, TRX, Pilates, Yoga, etc)CPR and First Aid certifications required within first 60 days of employment. Two or more years of group fitness instruction preferred. Shall wear Parks and Recreation staff uniform per the City of Appleton dress code. Adhere to the City of Appleton and Parks and Recreation Department policies and procedures
