Thimmig Elementary is seeking an ECSE teacher to work in the Intensive Flex (IF) Preschool classroom. The IF Preschool Program serves a combination of learner, including specialized programming for students who require intensive social-communication programming, students with autism, significant support needs and typical peers through the Universal Preschool Program (UPK). This position requires high levels of collaboration with other teachers and staff to provide fluid movement of all students between the IF classrooms and general education classrooms. This is a very unique position that requires flexibility and the willingness to learn and grow to support diverse learning profiles. This classroom is infused with high levels of support and collaboration from the OT, SLP and Early Childhood School Psychologist. Experience: Experience teaching children from birth to age 5 including direct instruction, assessment and family intervention. Ability to coordinate and collaborate with other agencies in providing family support systems. Experience developing and implementing IEPs. Knowledge and/or experience in developing, organizing and implementing preschool programming for children 3-5 with and without disabilities as well as culturally and linguistically diverse populations. Understanding and experience with evidence based practices for autism and implementation of social-communication programming. Qualifications: A valid CDE Certificate/ License in Early Childhood Special Education and/or endorsement to serve early childhood with significant disabilities. Knowledge and/or experience in assessment and prescriptive teaching in planning specific, individualized and developmentally appropriate curricular goals/activities for children , including the ability to develop and organize carry-over activities for children with follow-up support for parents. Willingness to complete necessary requirements as a part of the Universal Preschool Program (UPK). The ability and interest to be part of a collaborative and growth focused team. Ability to provide leadership/training/and supervision to classified staff in the implementation of curriculum. The ability to handle many complex tasks simultaneously. The ability and interest to learn continuously and to adapt to changing circumstances. A belief in empowering all children as owners of their learning. Bilingual (Spanish/ English) preferred.
