Maintains County road signs and other traffic control devices and markings in good condition. The employee is required to be on duty before, during, and after natural disasters and emergencies, as directed by the supervisor. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Installs and repairs county signs. Orders signs from sign makers and maintain a sign inventory. Continually inspects county traffic control signs and devices to insure they meet MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) requirements. Makes barricades and installs and repairs barricades and delineators. Uses hydraulic auger, electric generator, winch, cutting torch and post hole digger in removal, repair and installation of signs and devices. Drives pick-up truck to job sites. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Less than high school education with demonstrated ability to read and write, one year of work experience is preferred; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
