The position of the Security Supervisor is responsible for assisting in supervising all aspects of the Security and Safety in the hospital. Performs a variety of duties and rounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry to assure the personal safety of employees, patients, visitors, and physicians. Assist director with hiring, counseling, staff evaluations, monitors staff, and arranges schedules. Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication. Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers and the California Fair Chance Act. Essential Functions: Assists the director with ensuring the Security Program's policies and procedures are being adhered to by the security staff, ensures the security staff performs the daily duties to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry and assure the personal safety of employees, patients, and visitors. Assists with providing training to all new employees regarding the Security Management Program. This includes the type of incidents security department staff can respond to, how to report incidents obtain assistance in an emergency and training the staff in designated sensitive areas. Assists with implementing and overseeing documentation system for Security Incident reports from receipt of report to resolution. Documents security department activity; including investigating routine patrol activity, special and routine request for assistance, and other services. Assist in identifying problems, failures, and user errors that require attention and action. Assure security implementation to limit access to grounds, buildings, and sensitive areas by enforcing.policy and the removal of persons from unauthorized areas. Assists with identifying and developing programs related to potential workplace violence and train staff on how to de-escalate them safely and effectively. Participates in the Environmental of Care, Managers Meetings and any other meetings in the absence of the Manager. Assists in covering and performing the duties of the director during their absence. Assists staff with patients, in interventions of disruption by patients, including those on 5150 holds, by visitors and by other staff members. Uses clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers, patients, all customers internal and external. Uses AIDET in interactions with patients and family members. Acts with a sense of urgency when performing tasks. Basic unit/department maintenance such as keeping files, drawers, cabinets free from unnecessary clutter. Reports on any equipment and or environmental issues for repair. Abides by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations. Speaks up to stop the line and escalates potential safety events if necessary. Completes and attends monthly training assigned. Other duties as assigned. Communication/ Knowledge: Wears nametag properly; follows dress code policy; answers phone correctly and promptly; is prepared for meetings; meets deadlines; does not participate in gossip; acts ethically and treats others with respect; respects customer's and co-worker's time; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and co-workers. Collaboration/ Teamwork: Wears nametag properly; follows dress code policy; answers phone correctly and promptly; is prepared for meetings; meets deadlines; does not participate in gossip; acts ethically and treats others with respect; respects customer's and co-worker's time; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and co-workers. Experience: Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, strong organizational skills, ability to follow verbal instructions, and PC (computer) skills. At least one (1) to two (2) year(s) prior experience in an acute care hospital as a security supervisor, preferred.
