The Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet advances education, workforce development, and economic opportunity across the Commonwealth. The Cabinet provides education and training programs, employment and reemployment services, unemployment insurance, and disability determination services to help Kentuckians gain skills, find work, and maintain economic stability. It partners with education providers, workforce boards, and employers to align training with labor market needs and oversees labor programs that promote fair and safe workplaces. The Department of Workplace Standards, Division of Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) Education & Training, seeks a Graphic Design Coordinator in the OSH Training Branch. This position will perform and coordinate the work of graphic design projects in the creation, development, and production of printed, display, and web- based materials or products used in informational and educational programs, marketing and advertising efforts, promotional use, or similar purposes. This position will have access to confidential and sensitive information. The successful candidate will be required to ensure the safeguarding and security of all confidential and sensitive information and will be required to complete trainings, sign acknowledgments, follow all policies, and adhere to all statutes and requirements pertaining to the safeguarding and security of confidential and sensitive information while employed and after employment ends. Duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: Creates computer-generated designs for social media, web pages, electronic presentations, four-color printing (books, pamphlets, displays, postcards, and signs), utilizing a range of media, methods, and equipment. Content is directly used in KYSAFE modules, webinars, advertising, and promotional campaigns. Works directly with KYSAFE consultants in producing safety and health training content. Develops concepts and themes to produce layouts and designs that integrate all components into readable, attractive products primarily for educational and information needs, but also for promotional and marketing purposes. Content created will be viewed by the public from an educational and promotional standpoint. Uses industry-standard graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (In. Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Acrobat) as well as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and other Windows software to create a variety of graphic design projects. Work closely with consultation staff to produce e. Learning materials accessed by the public. Employs digital printing processes to prepare documents for pre-press and final output, as well as consults with commercial printing companies to ensure quality. Will ensure that all website material and e. Learning content are ADA-compliant. Identifies and interprets graphic design needs and develops creative, relevant design concepts using the principles and elements of design. Communicates those needs with management. Recommends acquisition of software and hardware technology to remain current with industry standards. Attends training and seminars to stay current with industry standards. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of experience in graphic design. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in one of the above areas will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18 A.111.
