GEAR UP Wyoming Accountant - SEO JOB PURPOSE: The GEAR UP Wyoming program (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a federally-funded grant program intended to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter college and earn a degree. This position will perform daily, monthly, and annual accounting and compliance duties for multiple federally funded accounts related to the GEAR UP Wyoming (GUWY). Please Note - This position is grant funded and considered at-will employment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide high-level accounting duties related to GUWY federal grant expenditures including processing ID - Ts, P-cards, reimbursements, requisitions, and high dollar contracts associated with grant operations, and manage match documentation in a cloud based financial system. Maintain accurate records to facilitate internal/external audits, work closely with offices supporting financial functions, and provide information and documentation to the Grant Manager and auditors as needed. Carefully review and monitor subgrantee/site partner monthly financial packets, budgets, and match documentation. Work with partner sites to resolve questions and prevent errors. In collaboration with the Grant Manager, develop annual budgets and work with the Office of Special Programs to process annual MO - Us with subrecipient partner sites. Maintain a shadow budget to reconcile accounts, prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports as required, and provide GUWY with current financial information Develop updated policy and procedures as needed and provide training to GUWY staff. Analyze and synthesize budget information in the context of current statute and regulations. Meet all deadlines while maintaining accuracy. Communicate professionally and effectively with a wide range of grant staff, statewide partners, and university offices. Assist GUWY Grant Manager with annual performance reporting and with special projects as assigned. COMPETENCIES: Analysis/ Problem Identification Attention to Detail Consistency Individual Leadership Integrity Judgment WORK LOCATION: This position provides vital support to campus customers, and the successful candidate must be available to work on campus - Eligible to apply for remote work for up to 2 days a week after 6 months. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience Experience: 1 year of comparable experience in an accounting or finance-related capacity Other Requirements: Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with Cloud-based financial management systems, including the PPM grants management and Contracts modules. Experience or familiarity with preparing and processing expenditure reports and requisitions in a Cloud-based system. MS Excel proficiency including experience creating and using Pivot Tables to analyze financial information and prepare reports. Experience with and an understanding of UW's accounts payable and receivable processes. Experience working with federal grant funds under compliant and ethical standards including grants with cost-sharing or matching requirements. Experience with managing the recruitment and hiring processes for non-benefitted employees. Strong organizational skills with the ability to establish priorities, manage multiple demands and projects, and meet deadlines. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
