The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire a Site Superintenden III at Sangamois State Fish and Wildlife Area for the Office of Land Management. This position manages the operations at Sanganois State Fish and Wildlife Area and Anderson Lake which includes supervising a large staff, maintenance of the sites grounds, facilities, and equipment, and coordinates waterfowl hunting program. The Sanganois SFWA is a popular destination for hunting and birdwatching. It covers approximately 10,360 acres and is situated near the merge of the Sangamon and Illinois River. Essential Functions Under direction, manages the operation of the Sanganois SFWA and Anderson Lake, supervising a large staff engaged in site operations, maintenance, and interpretive activities Directs and participates in the preparation and maintenance of site operational and financial records and reports Directs and participates in the maintenance and improvements of site grounds, facilities, and equipment Plans, coordinates, and implements farming activities and other programs compatible with the waterfowl hunting program Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with media, interested groups, and individuals Understands and explains agency policies, rules, and regulations to site visitors Reports and/or responds to emergency situations such as fires, flooding, accidents, road closures, severe storms, and police/fire department assistance Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skills, and mental development equivalent to a bachelor's degree in park and recreation administration, or natural resource administration, or in museum administration, history, American studies, or archeology Requires four years of supervisory experience in managing an outdoor recreational park, natural public area, or a cultural/historic site or museum Preferred Qualifications Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of site administration, including site interpretation, natural and/or cultural resource management, structural grounds maintenance, public relations, personnel administration, and outdoorrecreation programs. Working knowledge in waterfowl and/or wetland management. Two (2) years of experience in assigning and supervising the work of assistants and staff members. Two (2) years of professional experience in budget forecasting, analysis, and/or monitoring. Three (3) years of extensive knowledge of farm operations including equipment maintenance and operation, seeding, chemical and fertilizer application. Burn Boss Certification (Wildland firefighter 130/190). One (1) year of welding experience.
