The Village is governed by a seven-member legislative body comprised of the Village President and six Trustees, each elected to staggered four-year terms. The Mayor appoints the Village Manager with consent of the Trustees. The Manager serves as the Chief Administrative Officer and oversees day-to-day Village operations, and appoints Department Heads and the Deputy Village Manager. The Village has an annual operating budget of approximately $100 million and oversees a workforce of approximately 220 full-time equivalent employees across seven departments: Community and Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Police, and Public Works. The Village President and Board of Trustees are looking for a forward-thinking, collaborative, and dynamic professional with strong communication skills. Qualifications: Master’s degree (M. A.) in public administration, business administration, or related field. Minimum of six to ten years of experience in the planning, coordination, and financing of various activities in municipal government and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. ICMA credentials is a plus Commitment to high customer service expectations, fiscal discipline, integrity, and transparency in government. Strong fiscal management skills, partnership skills with elected officials, staff, agencies, and the community. Team-oriented, strategic-thinking approach toward staff leadership, human resources skills and supervisory experience. Superior public speaking and community engagement skills. Proven leadership, managerial, and people skills to guide a dynamic organization with high customer-service expectations. Knowledge in business attraction/retention and economic development. Attention to community revitalization, appearance, and transit-oriented development. Excellent communication, diplomacy, interpersonal and problem-solving, and community engagement skills. Strong strategic planning abilities to guide future growth and development, and economic development experience. Compensation and Benefits: Residency is not required. Anticipated starting salary: $230,000–$265,000 /- DOQ with eligibility for an annual performance increase.
