Zingerman's Bakehouse is a wholesale bakery, retail shop, and baking school for home bakers. We sell to specialty food stores, cafés and restaurants in southeastern Michigan as well as selling to Zingerman's Mail Order, who ships our baked goods everywhere in the United States. We are dedicated bakers and food lovers committed to making and selling the best breads, pastries and cakes we can imagine. We are real artisan bakers, meaning we use traditional methods and flavorful ingredients to make our food. Where is the job? Zingerman’s Bakehouse is located at 3711 Plaza Drive. What are the availability requirements? We are hiring a packager to work 40 hours a week during the hours of 11 am and 9 pm. We work on weekends and holidays. We require full availability in October, November and December. (We don't take any extra time off during these months.) Education, baking experience or training in the culinary field is not required. What are the physical requirements of the job? We require the ability to stand, lift and bend for up to 8-hours, with breaks; the ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly and the ability to work with repetitive motion including fine manipulation of hands and fingers. What kinds of things do you do in this job? Our pastry packaging team does a variety of essential tasks. A few examples are:Printing ingredient information and nutritional information stickers for a variety of products. Weighing and packaging or fabulous croutons, or as we call them, Ruby’s Cubes Sending our Magic Brownies through the flow wrapper as fast as you can. Calibrating and running the shrink wrapper, sealing our coffee cakes to perfection. Hand packaging a variety of cookies, brownies, and other treats. Sorting, stickering, and labeling pastries for our many, wonderful wholesale customers.
