More specifically, in the Division of Federal Programs within the Office of Federal Support and Grantee Relations, we ensure that local education agencies operate programs in compliance with federal laws and regulations. We’re looking for an Education Consultant 2 to assist the State Coordinator with oversight of the Mc. Kinney Vento Homeless Assistance Program and ensure parent and family engagement compliance statewide. The Education Consultant will ensure that students experiencing homelessness and families are provided with the necessary resources to be successful. Case Management and Organization: skilled in organizing and managing detailed records. Conflict Resolution: Ability to resolve disputes between parents and school districts regarding enrollment, transportation and school selection. Trauma Sensitivity: Ability to understand the impacts of trauma on children. Knowledge of Social Services: Extensive knowledge of community resources to assist families with housing, food, and clothing needs. Minimum Qualifications Six years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR - Six years of full-time work experience plus three years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; ORA bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR - An advanced degree plus two years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:The Education Consultant 2 will report to a classified Education Consultant Supervisor 5-A. The person in this position will assist the State Coordinator with oversight of the Mc. Kinney Vento Homeless Assistance Program and ensure parent and family engagement compliance statewide. In this role, you will:Provide regional trainings on the requirements of the Mc. Kinney- Vento Homeless Assistance Act and Parent and Family Engagement federal mandates as recommended by the State Coordinator or requested by the LE - As. Provide exemplary daily technical assistance via email, telephone calls, workshops, webinars, or conference calls to LE - As/ Homeless Liaisons, Mc. Kinney Vento Subgrantees, individuals, or other entities on the requirements of the Mc. Kinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. Facilitate resolution of homeless disputes, for those matters referred by the State Homeless Coordinator within the specified timeline. Ensure services provided by Federal Programs are coordinated with all other offices and divisions within the LDOE, making recommendations to the State Coordinator as necessary. Support the State Coordinator and its local education agencies (LEA/ LEA Charters) in implementation of the Parent and Family Engagement federal mandates. Read, review, and collaborate with the State and its local education agencies (LEA/ LEA Charter) to achieve approvable Title IX subgrantee applications for funding and Title I, Part A applications in the e-Grant Management System (e. GMS), within timelines and according to State and federal requirements. Research, design, implement, and evaluate current and long-range plans, rules, regulations, guidelines, and policies for the program(s) in accordance with federal or state laws and policies. Position-Specific Details:Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment if selected. Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group. Work Schedule: Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined. Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. - - Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series have a special entrance rate that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
