What We Offer. Spiritual Care Specialist. Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Location: New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC We are seeking a compassionate and mission-driven Spiritual Care Specialist to enhance the quality of life for patients and their caregivers through holistic spiritual, emotional, and social support. This role plays a vital part in delivering patient-centered care while also providing clerical and administrative assistance to the Spiritual Care Department, supporting efficient program operations and coordination. What You’ll Do. Provide individualized spiritual care services to patients, families, and caregivers across diverse belief systems. Offer emotional and social support during times of illness, stress, or transition. Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to integrate spiritual care into the overall care plan. Facilitate family meetings, group sessions, and presentations as needed. Maintain accurate documentation and reports related to spiritual care services. Provide clerical and administrative support to the Spiritual Care Department, including scheduling, correspondence, record management, and departmental coordination. Serve as a resource on spiritual and community-based services. Education. Bachelor’s Degree (required)Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Studies, Ministry, or a related field. ExperienceOne year of pastoral care experience (preferred)Licensure / Certification. Eligible for certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), preferred. Required Skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and group facilitation. Experience working with family and group dynamics. Knowledge of diverse religious traditions, cultures, and spiritual resources. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for administrative responsibilities. Preferred Skills. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate within a matrixed organization. Knowledge of group and systems theory as it relates to spiritual care.
