Design new computer room air conditioning (CRAC) products Collaboration across the disciplines of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, process engineering, as well as production and offering teams. Work with these teams for design reviews, meeting cost metrics, and brainstorming around customer pain points. Performs a variety of engineering calculations using traditional engineering methods to verify design requirements Create, evaluate, select and review electrical box and electrical panel layouts, ensuring proper component placement, component selection and compliance with applicable codes and standards. Selecting and evaluating electrical components, instrumentation, and control devices. Design/develop/create/review/revise 2 D and 3 D revision-controlled CAD for electro-mechanical assemblies, point-to-point wire harnesses, wire routings, wire and fuse sizing, connection drawings, customer-facing electrical diagrams (schematics) using a Product Data Management (PDM) tool. Develop/create/review/revise bills of material (BOM) and product definitions in a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool to support re-use of existing designs, manufacturing, quality, and service Develop solutions to complex problems where little or no precedence exists - the use of ingenuity and creativity is regularly required Implement product changes to solve field issues, support service department Extended Responsibilities: Work with software team to develop and verify CRAC system controls Support lab facilities with engineering prototypes and testing Support manufacturing during manufacturing prototypes, manufacturing pilot builds Participate in Design For Manufacturability (DFM) and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFME - As) Participate in identification of cost reduction opportunities and in the design and development of cost reduction changes Basic Requirements: Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related degree from an accredited college or university 5 years of career experience in new product development as an individual contributor Ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment independently and as a member of a dynamic team; offer and receive constructive criticism Ability to mentor and guide less experienced team members Demonstrated history of delivering quality products to market with understanding and respect for phases of the product development process Excellent project management skills and communication skills, both written and verbal Proficient in 2 D & 3 D CAD software, preferred CREO 4.0 and greater Knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70), IEEE 519, UL 508 A SB Preferred Requirements: Knowledge of UL 60335-2-40 or equivalent CSA/ UL standards and UL 508 A Electrical Panels VFD programming and troubleshooting experience Experience with communications and interconnects standards and protocols including RS 485, CAN, and Ethernet
