This position is directly responsible for meeting recycling goals outlined in assigned municipal contracts or as assigned by the manager. The Representative will have a thorough understanding of WM service offerings and be able to utilize WM relationships and resources to achieve municipality recycling and sustainability goals. This position is dedicated to helping businesses, apartments and residents reduce waste and improve composting and recycling programs through education and technical assistance. You will work onsite with businesses and apartments to provide customer service and troubleshoot complex waste program challenges such as overflowing containers. You will project manage and staff busy Beyond the Cart collection events and maintain progress of contractual requirements including tabling at events, conducting door-to-door outreach and waste assessments. This position is partially remote, with regular indoor and outdoor field work around the Seattle area. Office-based work will be done from the employee’s home office or the employee’s remote work location. Weekend and evening work is required when events fall outside regular business hours. II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Thoroughly understands the WM contract; develops and implements thoughtful program approaches to achieve and surpass contractual metrics. Coordinates with operation and customer service teams to resolve complex customer issues. Understands which behaviors have the most impact on diversion rates/recycling outcomes and is able to make innovative yet credible and implementable recommendations to the wide variety of municipal stakeholders. Takes the lead in developing solutions; is a thought leader. Designs and delivers educational programs and presentations focused on achieving sustainability goals and driving awareness of WM efforts in the community. Is able to understand customer base and customize programs/presentations to customer needs. Conducts site surveys and waste audits in order to make credible recommendations to customers based on sound business rationales. Knows Area specific capabilities per district and ensures that recommendations are aligned with operational capacity - current and planned. Understands customer needs and how to formulate suggestions and proposals in ways that meet customer needs. Has the WM product knowledge necessary in order to recommend solutions that meet customer needs. Uses WM knowledge and relationships to ensure flawless execution of WM service delivery. Has a deep understanding of WM’s overall business and strategy and demonstrates support of WM’s strategic goals consistently. Works as a team with Public Sector Sales to assist in creating overall strategy for the municipality and contract. Leads in-person and virtual customer facility tours, aligning strategic messaging with audience. Co-manages a social media account and ensures visibility and promotion of WM programming. Project manages and staffs community recycling collection events, including coordinating vendor payment and planning for efficient traffic flow. Cultivates and improves community partnerships by attending and participating in public events, meetings and other programs on behalf of the recycling organization. Prepares various reports for internal and external use with a focus on using data and stories to demonstrate impact. Supervisory Responsibilities. Work collaboratively with others on the outreach team to plan the annual WM Recycle Corps summer internship and train and manage 10 interns. III. Qualifications A. Required Qualifications Associate's Degree (accredited) in Environmental Science, Resource Management, Education, Public Administration or a related field, or in lieu of degree. High School Diploma or GED (accredited)2 years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement). Valid Driver License and reliable transportation. B. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required. Proactive and adaptable, with the ability to quickly learn new processes and take ownership of tasks. Ability to work independently to creatively solve problems. Organized, detail-oriented and able to plan and implement strategic approaches effectively and on time. Excellent written and verbal professional communication and peer collaboration skills. C. Preferred Qualifications:Has field experience supporting customers and troubleshooting operational challenges. Fluency in Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese or Korean. Experience working in the solid waste industry. IV. Physical Requirements. Field work may involve outdoor conditions such as uneven terrain, weather extremes, noise, dirt, and other environmental factors, as well as accessing dumpsters in alleys and behind buildings. The role requires lifting and transporting outreach supplies, such as tables and a canopy tent. PAY: The expected base pay range for this position is $80,168 - $89,470. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.[KM 1] [KM 2] V.
