OVERVIEW OF JOB - Aurora Water offers an exciting opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in the water and environmental sector through the Community Engagement & Outreach Internship. This position provides a unique introduction to the world of water utilities, environmental stewardship, and public engagement—fields that are increasingly critical to the future of communities across the western United States. As an intern, you will help Aurora Water connect with the community on important topics such as water conservation, water quality, drought preparedness, and the long-term sustainability of our water supplies. You will represent Aurora Water at community events, assist with educational outreach programs, and help residents better understand the value of water and the role they can play in protecting this essential resource. This internship provides practical experience in public engagement, environmental education, and communications while working alongside professionals in one of Colorado’s leading water utilities. It is an excellent opportunity for students interested in environmental science, communications, public policy, sustainability, education, or public service to explore careers in the water sector. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Represent Aurora Water at community events by supporting educational displays, activities, and outreach materials. Engage with community members to share information about water conservation, water quality, and Aurora Water programs. Assist in the development and preparation of outreach materials, displays, and engagement tools used at community events. Support research on best practices for community engagement and environmental education. Help organize and prepare materials and equipment for outreach events and educational activities. Assist Aurora Water staff with community engagement initiatives, including workshops, presentations, and public events. Develop a small project, tool, or display that supports Aurora Water’s community engagement and water education efforts. Perform other related duties as assigned.
