As a certified nursing assistant at Salem Health, you play a vital role in delivering compassionate, hands-on care during some of the most vulnerable moments in a patient’s life. You’ll assist with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, and collaborate closely with nurses and providers to ensure safe, personalized care. Our 46 bed Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) is seeking passionate and skilled healthcare professionals to join our team. As an integral extension of the Emergency Department, the CDU provides short term observation care, up to 48 hour, for patients requiring further evaluation before discharge or admission. This unique setting allows our team to make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes while working with a wide range of diagnoses, including electrolyte imbalances, anemia chest pain, transient ischemic attacks and infections. What you'll do Completes personal care on each patient as directed by plan of care, including policies and procedures, without continual direct supervision. Accurately performs skills per policy and procedure. Completes only those skills duties for which competency has been demonstrated basic and advanced skills checklists. Observes and reports any patient condition changes to the Primary Nurse such as: abnormal vital signs, abnormal responses to care, change in patient behavior, functional status, patient complaints, changes in skin integrity, falls, etc. Documents pertinent patient information concisely and legibly using acceptable medical terminology and abbreviation on all assigned patients. Supports nurses and healthcare staff in delivering personalized, high-quality care. Maintains a clean, safe, and healing environment for patients and families. Provides emotional support and compassionate care during vulnerable moments. Communicates clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and team members. Helps ensure patient dignity, comfort, and safety at all times. Required qualifications. Licensed in the State of Oregon to practice as a CNA. Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
