In the clinical decision unit (CDU), you’ll care for patients who come through the emergency room and need to be observed for 18 to 48 hours. You’ll often find that the unit functions as an extension of the emergency room, giving the provider time to further evaluate or treat patients before deciding whether to discharge them or admit them as in patients. You’ll encounter a wide range of medical diagnoses, offering you diverse healthcare experiences. These diagnoses include, but aren’t limited to, electrolyte imbalances, anemia, chest pain, transient ischemic attacks, and infections. What you'll do. Perform accurate, ongoing, and relevant assessments for each assigned patient. Deliver patient care competently in alignment with individualized care plans. Plan and coordinate patient transfers or discharges to the appropriate level of care. Collaborate proactively with the healthcare team and patient families. Document assessments, care plans, interventions, and patient responses clearly and accurately. Anticipate patient needs and communicate effectively with team members. Required qualifications. Requires a Bachelor of Science (BSN) or Bachelor of Arts degree in nursing, or non-nursing bachelor's degree with a Master of Science in nursing (MSN). Candidates with an associate's degree in nursing (ADN) or graduate of a diploma RN program are also encouraged to apply; ADN applicants with less than five years of acute care experience will be required to sign an agreement committing to complete their BSN or MSN degree within three years of hire. Unencumbered licensure to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon. Basic Life Support (BLS). Less than one year of nursing experience. Total rewards package
