Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird seeks Administrative Support Assistant 3 to serve in the Victim Assistance Section. Description. This position involves significant paperwork and work with database systems; telephone contact with crime victims, law enforcement, and service providers; teamwork; and attention to detail. This position answers calls for Victim Assistance and responds to walk-in visitors. The person serving in this role must be friendly and courteous, have familiarity with the criminal justice system, and a passion for helping crime victims. Requirements and Preferences. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates must have a passion for public service and possess high levels of organization, judgment, prioritization, customer service, written and verbal communication, math computation, and data entry skills. The most competitive candidates will have experience working with confidential information, and the capability to work with distressed persons from diverse backgrounds. Prior experience in office administration support is a must. Bi-lingual/multi-lingual capabilities and experience are a plus. Pay and benefits. Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification: Two years of full-time work experience in general office, clerical, data entry/processing, or related work. A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 2 or eighteen months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 1. Additional Qualification Requirements
Within a period of time after hire, as determined by the appointing authority, employees in this class may be required to type at least 40 WPM net as demonstrated by the completion of a typing examination.
