Supervises and evaluates the work of subordinate staff, effectively recommends personnel actions related to selection, disciplinary procedures, performance, leave of absence, grievances, work scheduled and assignments. Directs health services to assure achievement of optimal level of care to offenders to meet care standards. Establishes and maintains guidelines for staffing within the health care agency to assure adequate nursing coverage all offender areas. Maintains a nursing schedule to cover the institution 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Assures annual evaluations are completed as assigned. Duty officer coverage. Recruitment and retention of nursing staff. Primarily responsible for development, implementation and revision of institutional health services procedures. Assures monthly nursing meetings and minutes are complete and distributed. Participates in inter-departmental meetings to advocate for nursing department needs and to coordinate health services with other disciplines. Ensures employee's health program is accurate. Administer special programs as infection control, staff development, nursing quality improvement and utilization review. Attend institutional and Executive and/or Leadership meetings to represent Health Services. Active member of the quarterly P&T committee and Nurse Managers monthly QA on nursing charts.
