Creates patient accounts accurately and timely, ensuring patient demographics and account information are appropriate for the patient account type. Ensures all financial assessments are clear, updated, and thorough to expedite billing of patient accounts. Monitors email inbox, faxes, and responds to phone calls, researching questions, patient account requests, pre-certification issues, and other related documentation within defined time frames. Screens patients who may be Medicaid eligible and directs them or their family members to proper agencies to acquire Medicaid and/or charity. Obtains medical records or other required documentation to assure timely payment of the account. Contacts insurance companies for referral numbers or pre-certification/authorization and documents accordingly. Directs patients to appropriate specialists and vendors according to their insurance. Reconciles charges to the daily schedule to ensure accurate billing. Completes special projects or performs other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Maintains current and thorough knowledge of online eligibility and pre-certification tools to provide consistent service to patients and clinical partners. Pre-certifies applicable patient accounts in a timely manner, ensuring authorizations are correct and benefits are accurately documented.
