This position's primary duty is to effectively assist the manager in managing all gift shop operations. This includes ensuring that staff members are helping customers, and that all staff is on task with projects and taking breaks on time and adhering to policies and procedures. Duties include but are not limited to: Inventory management and merchandising which will include back stock flow and daily merchandising; online and phone orders, checking the daily status of all orders and ensuring orders are filled timely; freight and stocking; using a POS system; and opening and closing duties. In addition, the Gift Shop AM will keep up on general maintenance and cleanliness of the stock room, floor, espresso bar, and merchandise, as well as assisting in the operation of the gift shop and assisting with hiring and training of employees. Excellent communication skills are essential. The Gift Shop AM will be expected to comply with and enforce all McMenamins, Anderson School and departmental policies and procedures as well as communicate with the Gift Shop manager. The Gift Shop AM must remain professional and positive while setting an example for other staff members. Being a Gift Shop AM can be hard physical work and requires mental agility and the ability to effectively multitask in a fast paced and deadline oriented environment. The Gift Shop AM must have the ability to work well independently and as a member of a team. Each employee will be expected to perform their job in a safe manner and report any safety concerns to Management. All McMenamins employees will also be expected to keep current on all company events, history, and products. Other duties as assigned by the Manager. Requirements of the Job: - Customer service and retail experience required - Accurate and consistent communication with manager and other department manager - Computer and internet skills - Superior organizational skills - Prior ordering and merchandising experience preferred - Ability to accurately handle cash, numbers, and inventory - Inventory and checking in merchandise, processing, receiving products from vendors - Management of vendors regarding wrong orders, broken products and shipping orders - Experience with making coffee and specialty espresso drinks Essential Functions of the Job: - Effectively manage employees in a positive, professional manner - Fine hand manipulation including frequent repetitive use of hands, opening items in jars and plastic tubs - Repetitive movements including bending, pushing, pulling, twisting and stooping - Flexible schedule including ability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required - Communicate clearly and be positive, polite, and cooperative with co-workers, managers, vendors, and customers - Must have a value for diversity and the ability to work with individuals from different backgrounds - Ability to remain calm and focused in a high volume, deadline oriented work environment - Accurately count and handle cash and credit card transactions - Able to climb ladders and/or stairs as needed - Safely lift and carry heavy objects with the use of a hand truck or the help of another person as needed - Manage multiple tasks effectively - Work with very little supervision in a sometimes stressful deadline oriented environment
