The endoscopy technician (ET) under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, supports nurses, physicians, and other personnel in the direct and indirect care of patients and their families in the endoscopy unit. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma required. Completion of the SGNA GI Tech Specialist Educational Program and/or graduation from an approved course for Surgical Technicians required. Experience A minimum of one (1) year experience in Endoscopy required. Licensure/ Certification/ Registration: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within ninety (90) days of employment.. Duties Responsibilities: Greet all patients and their accompanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service. Responsible for preparing, providing, and caring for instruments, scopes, and other equipment. Obtain specimens and maintain a sterile field where applicable. Assist the physician and nurses during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Assist the manager with inventory of supplies, maintenance of infection control logs and other data as well as assisting with scheduling and preparation of daily endoscopy schedules. Complete other duties as assigned. Work effectively and collaboratively with co-workers, nursing colleagues, physicians, and department heads. Effectively utilize strong organizational/time management skills. Consistently display effective verbal and written communication skills. Proficient understanding and use of technology/ PC skills required. Exercise independent judgement and remain calm and professional in emergency situations.
