ASSIGNMENT Position: ESE Specialist Qualifications. Master\s degree or higher. Certification in Exceptional Student Education. Successful teaching experience in Exceptional Student Education. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. Job Goal. To improve the programs for exceptional students by participating in Exceptional Student Staffing\s and Individual Education Plan Development meetings. To provide an educational atmosphere in which students will move toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth and maturation in accordance with district philosophy, goals, and objectives. Reports To. Director of Exceptional Student Education and Student Services RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES Performance Responsibilities. The performance responsibilities of an ESE Specialist are those listed in the job description for Teacher, in addition to the following:Coordinates the referral, staffing, placement and re-evaluation process for exceptional student education at the school level, i.e., initials, IEP reviews, transfers, verification of placements. Assists IEP team members in developing, implementing, and monitoring progress of IEP goals to ensure IEPs are implemented with fidelity. Maintains accurate, current ESE records and supporting documentation to reflect appropriate service delivery models and compliance with services as identified on the IEP/ EP. Acts as a resource to the school personnel regarding ESE rules, regulations, compliancerequirements, program needs, school responsibilities, positive behavioral supports, discipline concerns, functional behavior assessments, behavior intervention plans, and other ESE related concerns including implementation of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Collaborates in the development, coordination, and facilitation of training and professionallearning relative to ESE and IDEA. Serves as liaison between school personnel and the district ESE staff. Attends workshops, conferences and monthly meetings necessary to maintain and updateprofessional knowledge including required certification in the FLDOE Matrix of services. Utilizes behaviors consistent with Facilitated IEP training to conduct efficient and productive IEP meetings in which all participants feel valued and heard. Utilizes district-wide data management systems to collect and analyze data to inform decisions related to student needs. Submits comprehensive written reports of appropriate assessment data or other sources of district data upon request. Reports progress regularly on ESE Department goals and processes. Performs other such duties as assigned by the Director of Exceptional Student Education program, the Superintendent of School, or the Board. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects. Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office, and other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (typically involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting). Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions. Ability to travel outside the district for a variety of meetings and conferences. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Calendar Months: 11 Month Salary Schedule: Instructional (Bargaining) Pay Grade: Base. Salary and Benefits as determined and approved annually by Hendry County School Board. This position is entirely dependent on grant funding. Employment is contingent upon the continuation of grant funding. In the event that grant funding is reduced or discontinued, this position may be affected, up to and including termination of employment. EVALUATION Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with School Board Policies for evaluation of administrative personnel.
