Performs general maintenance and repairs for City facilities, including sweeping, mopping, disinfecting areas, and other cleaning duties. Essential Functions/ Job Competencies/ Physical Requirements ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. Dusts chairs, tables, shelves, and other furniture or equipment; cleans and polishes furniture and metal or woodwork. Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms; replaces toilet paper and paper towels. Vacuums, sweeps, mops, and buffs the floors; shampoos carpet. Collects and disposes of trash and debris both indoor and outdoor. Performs minor repairs of leaking water lines, as needed; unclogs sinks and commodes. Performs general errands including delivering and distributing mail. Performs related work as required. COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES - Knowledge of:Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Knowledge of cleaning solutions and chemicals. Knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, equipment, and procedures. Knowledge of general carpentry, electrical, plumbing work, and air conditioning and heating systems. Knowledge of safety protocols. Skills and Abilities:Skill in organization and time management. Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to meet schedules and deadlines of the work. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries. Ability to comply with City policies and procedures. Ability to operate applicable equipment and machinery. WORK ENVIRONMENT/ CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Physical Effort Requirements Position will have the following exposures. Office or similar indoor environment, relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Exerting up to 35 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. International travel. Frequently. Local travel Minimum Qualifications Required Education and Experience. At least eighteen (18) years of age. Valid Licenses and Certifications Required Licenses or Certifications. Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
