Join #Team. Wake as a Public Health Educator with the Safe Routes to School Program! Help shape a healthier, safer future for Wake County students! The Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program empowers children and families to choose walking and biking as fun, active, and safe ways to get to school. Through smart planning, community partnerships, and evidence-based strategies, SRTS boosts physical activity, reduces injuries, and builds lifelong healthy habits. Housed within Wake County Public Health, the SRTS program plays a critical role in improving community health and preventing motor vehicle injuries involving child pedestrians and bicyclists. Support schools and community partners through hands-on implementation of SRTS strategies. Identify opportunities for policy, systems, and environmental changes to strengthen walking and biking initiatives. Build and maintain strong relationships with school district leaders, individual schools, municipal partners, and community organizations. Lead collaboration efforts among partners to support impactful, sustainable programming. Manage funding applications, grant reporting, and action-plan development.
