San Bernardino County Land Use Services Department - Code Enforcement Division, is recruiting for a Code Enforcement Deputy Chief - who is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the division in the enforcement of County codes and State and Federal laws. The Deputy Chief utilizes a staff of subordinate supervisors and officers, while assisting the Code Enforcement Chief in administering the activities of the division. - Official Title: Program Manager, Code Enforcement. Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT - Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must undergo a background check, which includes fingerprinting and a medical exam. Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license is required at time of appointment, and must be maintained throughout employment. Employees in this class may be required to use personal vehicles and show proof of automobile liability insurance. Mileage reimbursement is available. Availability: Positions are subject to evening, weekend, holiday, and call-back work. Physical Requirements: Requires frequent climbing, kneeling, crawling, lifting, and carrying of items weighing up to 25 pounds. Certificate: Candidate must possess and maintain PC 832 certification. Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is unable to consider to candidates who require Visa Sponsorship at this time or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment. Minimum Requirements Candidates must possess Certifications AND Experience requirements to qualify. CERTIFICATIONS REQUIREMENT:OPTION 1:PC 832 Certification AND Basic Certification (Module One) issued by California Association of Code Enforcement Officers (CACEO) (or equivalent). OPTION 2:PC 832 Certification AND International Code Council (ICC) Building Inspector Certification (or equivalent). Certificates MUST be attached to job application to be considered. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:Two (2) years as a Supervisor of Code Enforcement Officers in a California public agency. Experience must include five (5) years experience enforcing, investigating, and interpreting code and ordinance violations related to land use, building, single/family residential and commercial structures, vehicle code, zoning, and public nuisance abatement. Desired Qualifications The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in community outreach/engagement, developing policies and procedures, and building budgets.
