We are seeking a Visitor Services Coordinator to support visitor engagement, tours, events, and facility coordination for the legislative branch, delivering effective civic education and public services. This role ensures a professional, organized, and welcoming visitor experience while coordinating logistics across agencies and internal teams. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level. Coordinate and schedule Capitol tours; manage logistics, calendars, and communications; lead tours as needed. Organize school field trips and coordinate visits across the Capitol Complex with agency partners. Develop and manage Capitol Classroom and Civics Lab programs for diverse age groups. Manage the volunteer docent program, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and ongoing support. Plan and execute legislative and public events; coordinate logistics, schedules, and facility use. Coordinate building use and operations with partners, including room scheduling, access, and support services. Support legislative activities, including ceremonies, committees, student intern programs, outreach, and internal meetings.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in public administration, education, communications, hospitality, or related field. Exceptional organizational and scheduling skills with attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak publicly to large groups. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and sometimes demanding environment. Experience with government or legislative environments, managing docents or volunteers, event coordination, customer service, and public engagement preferred. Physical requirements: Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
Necessary Special Requirements
WORK SCHEDULE & TRAVEL - Standard hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a one-hour lunch. Legislative work often requires extended hours. Flexibility and availability beyond standard business hours are expected to meet legislative demands. During the legislative interim, a flexible schedule may be available with the approval of the Director. Occasional travel may be required. NOTES In-person position. Overtime is required during the legislative session and certain other periods as necessary to meet the demands of the Legislature. All employment with the Wyoming Legislature is at-will.
