As a Public Health RN 2 within the Columbus Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.
Job Responsibilities
This position position will be housed at the Columbus Health Department and will provide professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies, and/or procedures. You will support the Department by utilizing your expertise to fulfill the following responsibilities:Function as an expanded-role nurse based out of the Columbus Health Department. Assist with the overseeing of the daily functions of nursing staff. Provide nursing care consistent with the patient’s level of need. Utilize the EMR system to accurately document patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement. Order and dispense medications based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol. Will be responsible for collaborating with the office manager to minimize patient wait time, ensure adequate nursing coverage, and assist with patient careSupport staff with outreach events, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification; or one (1) year of experience at the lower-level PH Registered Nurse 1 (HCP 190) or position equivalent. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in nursing and two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse. Public Health experience.
