The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Library Aide with the Berkeley Public Library. In this role, you will have the opportunity to be a part of the library's day-to-day function and understand the importance of providing excellent customer service, all while building your library career. Currently, we have three part-time 30-hour-a-week Library Aide positions open. One in our Circulation division at the Central Library and two at our Tarea Hall Pitman South Branch. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:Equivalent to graduation from high school. No experience is required. Experience working in a library setting is preferred. Other requirements:Must be able to work evenings and weekends. Performs a wide range of physical motions, which may include routine and repetitive bending, reaching, and pushing, moving, and carrying library materials. Must have sufficient strength to repeatedly lift books weighing between 1 and 10 pounds, including overhead lifting, to load transit boxes, book bins, and push book trucks weighing in excess of 50 pounds.
