The primary focus of this role is to provide strategic direction and oversee the operations, alignment and completeness of Curriculum Design deliverables for Fine Arts grades K-12 as well as continuing long lasting relationships in the Houston community regarding Fine Arts implementation. The Director 1 plays a critical role in driving organizational success by setting goals, developing strategies, and ensuring effective implementation Fine Arts operations and integration within the district. This position requires strong leadership skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to give critical feedback. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1. NES Curriculum Development Management: Lead and mange the process for designing curriculum for assigned content area(s) and grade level band(s), ensuring alignment with NES model and Houston ISD's educational objectives. This includes slides, student activities, assessments, and differentiated assignments .. Campus Support: Oversee the implementation of Fine Arts programming on campuses across the District. Provide support including aligning with campus principals and leadership on observation best practices, overseeing Fine Arts events in collaboration with campus staff, arranging field visits and competition logistics with campuses .. Lead and Facilitate Brain Trusts (PLC): Prepare and facilitate in collaborative brain trust sessions to gather insights, share expertise, and foster innovation in curriculum design and instructional strategies to ensure alignment, correctness, and clarity of each lesson document. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED 4. Manage Performance: Create working improvement plans for Curriculum Writer 1 s in conjunction with Curriculum Writer 2 s to see growth in delivery of on-time, completed, high quality instruction through crucial conversations and direct oversight of deliverables received .. Curriculum Scope and Sequence: Create scopes and sequence utilizing high quality instructional research and strategies. Create and provide Lesson Objectives to Designers in a sequential order .. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; master's degree preferred. WORK EXPERIENCE - Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a leadership role, preferably within a similar industry or organization. SKILL AND/ OR REQUIRED LICENSING/ CERTIFICATION - Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans. Demonstrated track record of successfully leading and managing teams, fostering a high-performance culture. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage andinfluence stakeholders at all levels. Strong financial acumen, with experience in budget planning, financial management, andresource allocation. Proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive organizational growthand impact. Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to navigatecomplex challenges. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and externalstakeholders. Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meetdeadlines. Knowledge of relevant industry regulations, compliance standards, and best practices. Ability to adapt to change and lead teams through organizational transitions. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and practices. Strong ethical standards and integrity in decision-making. Professional certifications or memberships relevant to the industry or leadership role are desirable.
