The Head Women's Volleyball Coach is responsible for leadership, direction, and oversight in all aspects of the women's volleyball ball program in a manner that is consistent with the mission of the University. Secondary duties may be assigned based on the qualifications and experience of the personnel. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Coaching Responsibilities Oversight of the entire volleyball program which includes athlete recruitment, player development, coaching staff development, management of equipment, and delegation of responsibilities to other staff Scheduling of practices, scrimmages and games in cooperation with the Athletic Director and his/her designee Give instruction, direction and oversight to athletes for pre-season, in-season, and off-season conditioning and skill development Preparation and oversight of team budget in cooperation with the Athletic Director's office as to stay within budget each fiscal year Participate in the recruitment and retention of qualified student-athletes who will thrive in the academic environment an spiritual atmosphere of BJU even when required to miss occasional classes and on-campus events due to team travel. Coordination of travel plans and supervision of student athletes for away events Team preparation including game strategy from beginning of the season through the last game, including tournaments qualified for in the NCCAA Commitment to established NCCAA and University rule compliance as well as ethical standards of behavior, keeping current on all policies especially as they apply to eligibilty and finances Represent women's volleyball at appropriate NCCAA Coaches' meetings and conferences Maintain team roster and annual competition schedule in compliance with NCCAA and University regulations Maintain positive Christ-honoring relationships with his/her athletes and have their physical and spiritual welfare uppermost in his/her consideration at all times This position also requires travel and overnight stays for competitions Maintain regular posted office hours to be available to athletes and coworkers Engage in professional development activities Attend required meetings (including chapel, faculty/staff meetings, and convocations) Adhere to guidelines outlined in the Academic and Faculty/ Staff Handbooks Communicate the religious beliefs of BJU to students and student affiliates Answers questions concerning faith, doctrine and creed of BJU to constituents, students, or those inquiring about BJU REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated excellence in organizing a competitively excellent volleyball program Excellent communication skills College coaching and/or playing experience preferred Possess and communicate a Biblical worldview and integrate biblical principles into athletics Bachelor's degree required, master's preferred OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Committed to personal professional development Participate in appropriate professional organizations Must be able to drive school cars/vans Must have or be able to obtain current American Red Cross Standard First Aid certification or AHA Heartsaver First Aid certification Must be able to attend to details and deadlines Must be able to keep on task in the midst of surrounding activity and have several tasks ongoing simultaneously Must be able to receive detailed information through oral and written communication Must be able to demonstrate and teach skills and techniques to collegiate level student-athletes Must have a servant's heart and an understanding of both the privilege and responsiblity before the Lord inherent in this position An applicant for a position in the Bob Jones University group - Bob Jones University, Bob Jones Academy or BJU Press - must be a born-again Christian who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
