DUTIES This is professional, administrative work supervising the IT Unit for the Office of the State Attorney, Eighteenth Judicial Circuit. The work involves independent task-oriented duties to provide, manage, staff, and maintain a system to support the network, data processing, and office automation functions for the legal and administrative areas of the office. General duties include evaluating and resolving user problems; enhancing the development of automated systems which support State Attorney operations; developing contingency and capacity planning strategies; establishing written IT policies and procedures on the overall environment; diagnosing problems and recommending solutions; serving as liaison to information systems officers at partner agencies; translating manual operations to automated systems to improve efficiencies; developing a short-term and long-term strategic plan that outlines the direction of information technology pertaining to office operations; supervising support staff conducting help desk operation, server maintenance, software licensing/user agreements, and compliance with FDLE/ CJIS security requirements; reporting on system status, workload, and other issues at senior staff and division chief meetings. The applicant will demonstrate knowledge of the principals and practices of supervision and management; the budgetary process and fiscal control procedures; project control and cost estimating techniques; concepts and theories of data processing; computer operations and network systems; and practices and techniques of computer programming and system design. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to prioritize and resolve urgent requests; think logically and solve problems; direct feasibility and cost analysis studies; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in Computer Science or related field and two years’ experience in programming, or an equivalent of training and experience.
