The School of Political Science, Public Affairs, and Legal and Security Studies (PPLSS) at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) invites applications for a Part-Time Lecturer in Public Administration to teach in its undergraduate program starting on September 1, 2026. The capability to teach some of the following courses: Introduction to Public Administration, Bureaucracy and Organizational Theory, Public Fiscal Administration, Comparative Public Administration, Human Resources Management, or Special Topics in Public Administration is highly valued. A Master’s Degree in Public Affairs/ Administration is required; a PhD. in Public Administration is preferred. Background The School of Political Science, Public Affairs, Legal and Security Studies (PPLSS) has a faculty consisting of 35 full-time and 11 part-time faculty. The school has an enrollment of approximately 5,000 each semester. In fall 2025, it had approximately 360 political science majors, 160 political science minors, 400 legal studies minors, 20 public affairs minors, 22 global security minors, 80 public affairs graduate students, and 25 political science graduate students. UTRGV was recently designated an RU 2 doctoral granting institution by the Carnegie Foundation with aspirations to become an R 1 in the future. Minimum Qualifications Non-Tenure Track Part-Time Lecturer: 1) Master of Public Administration/ Affair or related field from an accredited institution of higher education. 2) Ability to teach a Public Administration minor class. 3) Willingness to learn and utilize UTRGV’s course management platform (Brightspace).
