Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Developmental Specialist for the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. The Program Developmental Specialist (PDS), reporting to the Director of Student Services and Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program, plays a crucial role in supporting the retention and graduation of students enrolled in the EOF Program at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. The PDS develops and implements strategies aimed at improving the retention rates of EOF students and underrepresented populations. These strategies include providing individual counseling, monitoring academic progress, tutoring, and teaching skills with a particular focus on the sciences. The PDS advises the Director on matters related to the academic performance of EOF students and collaborates with other program staff and the Director on all aspects of student retention, professional development, and academic progress. Additionally, the PDS offers personalized learning assistance by creating individualized student plans and designing workshops to enhance academic and collegiate learning strategies within the rigorous pharmacy program. Among the key duties of the position are the following: Collaborates with various units and divisions at the university to improve student learning and retention. Oversees the academic year peer tutoring program as well as mandatory first year supplemental instruction program in collaboration with the Rutgers Learning Centers. Participates in a variety of university and college recruitment efforts, including college fairs, recruitment fairs, high school visits, and other activities as required. Provides regular updates and reports on student retention and performance. Co-coordinates the EOF Summer Institute by collaborating with Residence Life/ Conference Services to secure the summer institute contract and reserve the residence hall, classroom space, and other facilities/amenities as needed. Recruits and trains summer peer mentors and perform other duties as assigned.
