Replaces missing, outdated, and damaged signs, Erects new signs as directed; Repairs damaged signs; installs and repairs pavement markers. Operates standard trucks hauling signs, barricades, paint, and sign poles to and from job-site. Provides traffic control support for major projects involving primary roads and highly sensitive work areas with large traffic volumes. Flags traffic during road repairs. Assists in the placement of pavement markings such as stop bars, arrows, cross walks, railroad crossing or thermoplastic according to state specifications. Operates small equipment such as auger, and other tools, installing signs on the right-of-way and barcode all signs in the County. Assists with emergency and inclement weather operations, may include extended hours and/or 12 hour shifts.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position. The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis.
