DLA Piper is seeking a lawyer with a minimum of five years’ experience handling commercial leases (specifically including office, industrial and retail) to join its Real Estate Group. Solar leasing experience is valued but not required. This position is open to our Atlanta, Boston, California, Chicago, Miami, New York, Reston, Texas and Washington, DC offices. Job Responsibilities. Acting as the lead attorney in drafting and negotiating commercial leases and related agreements such as transfer consents, lender subordination agreements, letters of intent, work letters and SND - As; supervising the work of less experienced leasing attorneys; interacting directly with clients, opposing counsel, property managers, brokers and other relevant parties. Education JD Bar Admission Admitted to practice in the jurisdiction in which you are applying Experience Minimum 5 years of experience drafting and negotiating commercial leases and related agreements such as term sheets, letters of intent, work letters and SND - As. Job Competencies & Desired Skills Understanding of the commercial leasing market, including what is “market” for various types of leases and lease-related issues. Experience with leases for multiple property types, including office, retail, industrial and life science. Substantial experience representing landlords. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients and colleagues. Ability to understand our clients’ business objectives and to produce work quickly and efficiently. Strong negotiating skills. Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously.
