Copywriter, Paid Memberships (Contract)The Paid Memberships team at People Inc. is looking for a contract Copywriter to support copy on a new paid membership program. In this role, you'll write across the full subscriber lifecycle from acquisition landing pages and paywalls to upgrade prompts, promotional offers, and tier comparisons, creating copy that drives sign-ups, upgrades, and long-term engagement. You'll bring a test-and-learn mindset and sharp editorial instincts to every project. This is a hands-on contract role for a writer who can hit the ground running, meet deadlines, and deliver conversion-focused copy that's also on-brand. Assignment Details. Hourly Rate: $55-65/ Hour. Hours: 20 Hours Per Week/ Hybrid (1 day in office)Location: Remote. Start Date: ASAP - End Date: 3 months with the potential to extend What You’ll Do. Write clear, compelling, conversion-focused copy across landing pages, paywalls, upgrade prompts, offer pages, and more. Write promotional copy for discounts, tier comparisons, and offers that drive sign-ups, upgrades, and renewals. Tailor messaging to specific audience segments and lifecycle stages, while also contributing to broad-reach brand and acquisition campaigns. Develop and write A/ B tests, then refine copy based on performance data to continuously improve conversion and retention. Translate complex value propositions, pricing structures, and membership benefits into simple, persuasive language. Maintain a consistent brand voice and tone across every subscriber touchpoint. Experience:3 years of copywriting experience, with at least 1 year specifically working on subscription products, membership programs, or recurring revenue businesses. Proven ability to write across the subscriber lifecycle — acquisition, conversion, and retention. Experience with A/ B testing, optimizing based on data and writing to specific audience segments in addition to broad-reach messaging. Proven track-record of writing discount promos, tier comparisons, and offer copy that converts. Skills:Strong command of persuasive, conversion-focused copy across discount promos, tier comparisons, and offer copy. Sharp editorial judgment with attention to voice, tone, and brand consistency. Organized and able to manage multiple priorities without sacrificing quality.
