Baltimore Street, Baltimore MD 21223 Patient Access Department The Patient Access Department is responsible for coordinating patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, and pre-admission requirements. The team also provides financial counseling, supports emergency department access, assists with medical record requests, and serves as a key point of contact for patient inquiries related to appointments and hospital procedures. Patient Registration Associate Under moderate supervision, performs patient and/or specimen registrations. Serves as the front line representative of the department or laboratory and acts as a resource for patients and their families. Key Responsibilities Serves as a liaison between the Hospital and the patient according to the patient’s needs. Communicates effectively with patient, family, members of patient care team and other Hospital staff. Keeps patients informed of procedures. Greets patients, using key words as defined by the department, as they present themselves at the reception area, verifies patient name, logs arrival time, procedure, etc. ; either directs or escorts patient to appropriate patient care area.
