The City of Springfield's Environmental Services Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Plant Biologist. This position will perform professional chemical, biological, and bacteriological laboratory analyses in accordance with City, State, and Federal procedures and standards. Monitor environmental conditions of receiving water bodies associated with NWWTP and SWWTP. Educate the community on the wastewater process and its biological and environmental importance.
Qualifications and Requirements
Experience, Education, and Training. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Biology or closely related field of science;AND - Two years experience in a microbiology laboratory with related environmental and chemical testing experience;Work experience must include biological analytical procedures along with the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment: microscope, Idexx system, and dissolved oxygen meter;PREFERRED - Experience in the use of other laboratory field equipment. Licensing/ Certification. If operating motor vehicle, must possess current Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Missouri class “D” wastewater license preferred. Must obtain DS-1 Drinking Water certification with MDNR within probationary period.
