As a Data Scientist at Vail Resorts, you will have a tangible impact on strategies guiding the company and enhancing the skiing experience for millions of people around the world. Owning a network of 40 resorts, ranging from regional attractions to world-class destinations, we have compiled an industry-leading guest database to identify patterns, uncover trends, and predict behaviors. This role requires a blend of business intuition, technical aptitude, and statistical rigor. The Data Science team supports a variety of specialized operations, collaborating to translate their needs into technical solutions. Your ability to communicate appropriately with your audience will be key in gaining trust and adoption of your models. Job Specifications: Starting Wage: $88,868.83 - $114,225.42 Employment Type: Year Round Shift Type: Full Time hours available Minimum Age: At least 18 years of age Housing Availability: No Job Responsibilities: Bring analytical curiosity and creative problem solving to derive value and identify connections and patterns across business units Apply sound mathematical practices to develop predictive models and conduct statistical analyses Develop a deep understanding of the data, operations, and context of your stakeholders Create materials to effectively communicate model performance and translate outputs into actionable recommendations Take ownership and accountability throughout the full project lifecycle to proactively advance your work and contribute to the team Continuously learn and evaluate new methods, tools, and technology Job Requirements: B. S. degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Math, Computer Science etc.) 1-2 years hands-on data science experience or graduate degree in a quantitative field Proficiency in Python and SQL with familiarity using git for version control Comfortable with big data, aggregating across sources, and engineering features Knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of various machine learning algorithms and ability to evaluate model performance using appropriate metrics Strong verbal and written communication skills capable of engaging with audiences of varying technical aptitudes Preferred: Experience with statistical techniques in experimental design, causal inference, Bayesian models, or time-series modeling Experience deploying models to production Experience working in cloud environment (Azure, AWS, GCP) or data lakehouse (Data. Bricks, Snowflake) Experience delivering advanced data engineering solutions using tools such as DBT or Spark/ Py. Spark. The expected pay range is $88,868.83 - $114,225.42.
