Minimum Qualifications Four years of experience working as a WIC Clinic Nutrition Educator or in patient care; OR - Twelve semester hours in food and nutrition or dietetics plus three years of experience working as a WIC Clinic Nutrition Educator or in patient care; OR - An associate's degree in nutrition, dietetics, human ecology, family and consumer science, health promotion, pre-medicine, or nursing plus two years of experience working as a WIC Clinic Nutrition Educator; ORA bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, human ecology, family and consumer science, health promotion, pre-medicine, or nursing. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:Determines WIC eligibility by interpreting policies, assigning risk factors, evaluating lab values, and conducting comprehensive nutritional assessments. Provides certification and recertification services, including developing care plans, counseling participants, and monitoring progress toward healthy outcomes. Delivers individualized nutrition education and referrals to community resources based on participant needs and identified risk factors. Issues and manages WIC benefits in compliance with program policies, ensuring proper documentation and security of all transactions. Supports breastfeeding initiatives by educating participants, coordinating with peer counselors, demonstrating equipment use, and managing breast pump and formula inventory. Performs clinical and administrative tasks such as anthropometric measurements, hemoglobin testing, data entry, and assisting with staff training and nutrition education classes. Participates in outreach events, collaborates with healthcare providers and community partners, and responds to emergency assignments, including support at medical special needs shelters.
