Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides. Specialize in the accurate gross description and dissection of surgical specimens. Diagram pertinent gross specimens as necessary. Prepare sections of human tissue for pathologist diagnostic study. Operate laboratory instruments to properly display specimens. Perform equipment maintenance as needed Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner. Comply with applicable safety procedures and protocol. Effectively communicate with histology team members Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology. Preferred Qualifications:1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience 3 months or more of grossing experience. ASCP or AMT certification. Additional Job Standards:In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus. High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills. Able to pass a standardized color vision screen.
