Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Practice Manger for the department of Neurology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Responsible for the overall management of clinic operations, business functions and support functions. Directs, coordinates and supervises all operating, medical care delivery, and staff functions within the sites. Responsible for profitability and overall patient satisfaction. In conjunction with the physician staff, responsible for providing quality medical services. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Meets all critical performance measures including appointment access standards, waiting time on site, complaints and appeals processing, member satisfaction with services and member retention. Maintains appropriate levels of medical coverage for the practice site ensuring clinical and telephonic access to provider of care. Meets frequently with key managers to provide direction, coaching and advice on a daily basis to ensure success in meeting practice goals and objectives. Develops and maintains a patient focused, customer oriented, quality driven, team oriented environment. Works to ensure coordination of activities between front desk staff, nursing and medical practice. Directs, supervises, coordinates specific functions and activities of clinic as requested including computer systems, accounting, materials management, human resources, data processing, maintenance, support services, etc. Assists in development of marketing of new products, services, and subsidiaries. Recommends the hiring, firing, promoting, demoting, merit increases, transfers and/or disciplining of employees. Assists in the selection, employment, development, and management of employee and responsible for clinic personnel policies and practices. Coordinates with senior management on monitoring medical activities to ensure cost-effective and high-quality health care for patients. Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements. Certifications/ Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of the following: Principles and practice of health planning, and management sufficient to manage, direct and coordinate operations; purpose, organization and policies of the community’s health systems sufficient to interact with other healthcare providers; policies and procedures of a clinic sufficient to direct its operations and to provide effective patient care; principles and practices of employee development sufficient to ensure organizational productivity; computer programs and applications. Skills in the following: Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion in decision-making to achieve organizational objectives; analyze situations accurately and take effective action; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, policy-making bodies, third-party payers, patients and the public; organizing work, making assignments and achieving goals and objectives; exercising judgment and discretion in developing, applying, interpreting and coordinating departmental policies and procedures, running a Neurology sub-specialty or other academic based residency program. Following abilities: Ability to assume responsibility for quality control standards; organize and integrate organizational priorities and deadline. Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment are required. Demonstrated knowledge of how to accomplish superior performance in a unionized environment is necessary.
