The Clinical Nutrition Manager is responsible for the operation, leadership, and management of clinical nutrition related services for a single department. This position uses clinical nutrition knowledge to deliver high-quality Medical Nutrition Therapy services and cost-effective patient care. The Clinical Nutrition Manager works closely with facility management and clinical partners to ensure departmental focus and vision is aligned with local and system objectives. Posting Specifics. Pay Rate: Based on Experience. Shift Details: Full-Time (40 hrs/wk)Additional Details: This position will cover Lutheran Hospital 50% of the time and Good Samaritan 50% of the time. Expectation is that it is an on-site position that visits both locations. Essential Functions. This position reports to a Director Clinical Nutrition and will supervise frontline caregivers. The roll-up span of control for this manager role is typically 5 caregivers within a single department and requires the ability to effectively lead clinical nutrition practice and operations. Facilitates human resource functions (e.g., hiring, staffing, training, mentoring, evaluating, conflict resolution, constructive discipline, termination). Mentors and supports caregivers to ensure all team members understand their roles and accountabilities. Directs the provision of medical nutrition therapy and the nutrition care process per established system policies and procedures, organization's vision and values, and regulatory requirements. Maintains understanding, competency, and ability to directly provide and lead general medical nutrition therapy practice and care. Develops and implements department strategic plans, initiatives, and goals in alignment with system strategy to improve efficiency and provide quality Medical Nutrition Therapy. Establishes action plans to achieve financial objectives related to benchmarking and productivity. Skills. Leadership. Medical Nutrition Therapy. Communication. Strategic Planning. Operations management. People management. Financial acumen. Innovation. Regulatory compliance. Minimum Qualifications. Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration. State licensure or certification in accordance with the primary state of practice requirement for Registered Dietitians. If the primary state of practice requires licensure or certification, this must be obtained within 6 months of hire. Current expertise in clinical practice and medical nutrition therapy. Demonstrated highly effective verbal, written, interpersonal, and communication skills. Possess excellent customer service skills and ability to foster and promote the delivery of excellent patient and consumer service with proven ability to work effectively with physicians, administration, and clinical staff. Preferred Qualifications. Three years of clinical nutrition experience in a healthcare setting. Experience with infant feeding preparation and management. Demonstrated leadership skills including leading people and managing operations. Demonstrated effective business and financial skills in clinical nutrition management. Knowledge of regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and best practices in clinical nutrition and healthcare quality and patient safety with thorough knowledge of all applicable codes, standards, and regulations such as State, JCAHO, and CDR. Continuous improvement experience or certification. Specialty certification(s) related to clinical nutrition practice.
