By joining our Structures Section as Highway Technician Superintendent II in Hopkins County, you’ll have the opportunity to supervise, assign and schedule the work of employees on the structures crew. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have twelve years of construction or highway maintenance experience. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree in engineering technology, construction management, engineering science, engineering mechanics, geology, earth science, industrial drafting, design technology, construction technology or a related field will substitute for two (2) years of the highway related experience in construction and maintenance. Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering will substitute for four (4) years of the highway related experience in construction and maintenance. Graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree in Engineering Technology with completion of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship Program will substitute for six (6) years of highway related experience in construction or maintenance. College coursework related to any of these fields will substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis. Working Conditions Incumbents in this job title typically perform their work at a highway maintenance facility or section office, at work sites throughout the assigned work area and when necessary, district wide. Incumbent will be exposed to risks inherent to working with large equipment and machines involved with road construction. Must be able to work extended hours and be outside during inclement weather. Must be able to respond to emergencies 24/7. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 12 months, except as provided in KRS 18 A.111.
