The mission of the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government is to advance the state of knowledge and policy analysis concerning some of society’s most challenging problems at the interface of the public and private sectors. Within the Center, the successful candidate will be a member of a team conducting research and policy outreach on interactions between climate-change and trade policy for the Project on Climate Change and Trade: Reducing Emissions and Advancing Prosperity. The successful candidate will have considerable substantive knowledge of trade policy, climate change and sustainability policy, or both. The candidate will be comfortable and effective in communicating with relatively senior individuals in government and the private sector, who may be participants in the project, and will be willing and able to support the team with logistical and administrative aspects of the project if and when needed. Job-Specific Responsibilities: Applying substantive input in the planning of international research workshops, including: conducting independent research to identify potential participants to invite; using expertise to design agendas/schedules, and drafting research materials used during the workshop. Identify topics of research papers that will be suitable for policy outreach, identify potential authors, work with authors to ensure timely completion, edit papers (with professional external editors), and draft substantive summaries of workshops and events. Qualifications. Basic Qualifications: Master’s degree in public policy, international affairs, or a related field of study. Substantive knowledge of climate-change policy, trade policy, or both. Three years’ experience working on issues related to climate-change policy or trade policy; conducting research while attending University is acceptable to meet this criteria. Additional Qualifications and Skills: Excellent writing, editing, and communications skills. Experience with planning and executing research workshops or conferences. Demonstrated project-management skills. Experience working in a research-oriented setting, in a university or NGO. In particular, demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with senior researchers and policy makers from a range of cultural and national settings. Demonstrated skills in working with teams to advance common goals.
