As a Digital Press Operator, you will lead a 2-person crew on a digital press. You will be in charge of operating a machine to print book blocks. As a Press Operator, you will be checking for quality of the book block to ensure we are meeting quality expectations as set in the job ticket and during your training. The Digital Press Operator will also clean and maintain the press, making minor repairs and replacing work or broken parts, as needed. Start Rate: $28.44 (Base $25.85 10% Shift Differential) Work Hours: Night Shift 6 pm-6 am M/ T/ F/ S/ S/ W/ Th. Location: North Plant at 2347 Kratzer Road Requirements: Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with all levels of employees is essential. Demonstrated ability to function in a team environment. Ability to work overtime as needed Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Must be in good standing with no current final warnings Must meet minimum requirements stated above Qualifications: Requires thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials and specifications, equipment, and safety requirements and skills to perform assignments. Skill to read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most appropriate press usage, press settings and materials needed to run the job successfully. Skill to make a variety of difficult precise settings of controls, settings and adjustments, and to perform routine operational maintenance of equipment. Skill in routine operational maintenance and minor repairs to equipment. Knowledge of the appropriate amount of packing pressure needed to obtain the proper printing pressure for the type of job being run. Skill in use of micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly. Job requires ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
