NIHSS certification required within 6 months of hire. NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program preffered CEN Certification for Emergency Nursing preffered Minimum 2 yrs experience in a Level 3 or higher trauma ED. Trauma experience preferred. Responsibilities Triage and initiate accurate and ongoing assessments of physical and psychosocial problems of patients of all ages from 0through the lifespan, as evidenced in documentation and adherence to department standards. Identifies environmental and psychosocial factors affecting discharge needs and refers appropriately Knowledgeable of EMTALA issues that impact ED care and management. Recognitive of communicable disease and potential for bioterrorism threats Based on assessment, sound knowledge and critical thinking, ED nurses shall initiate nursing interventions and diagnostic tests according to standard, and function independently to assure high quality, timely and comprehensive care is offered. Demonstrates the ability to assume a leadership role in emergency or crisis situations. Able to identify replacement and alternative options, resources and communicate repair needs in the event of equipment malfunctions. Evaluate patient response to treatment plans, collaborate with physicians, and modify care according to patient responses Assure open and timely communication with patients, family, and team members to assure understanding of care, delivery delays, and comprehensive care. May be required to perform point of care testing. May be a point of care trainer Assist the patient and significant other to have the information they need on discharge to care for themselves or their loved one Understands and runs laboratory instrumentation. Performs Laboratory tests and Procedures as directed. It is the expectation that all care providers document accurately and in real time, utilizing the electronic medical record within their department.
