Civil and Forest Engineering Technician Internship. Student Worker. This is a temporary full-time internship position running from May through September. As the Civil and Forest Engineering Technician Intern, you will partner with the Umpqua National Forest to provide technical support for a wide variety of projects in timber management, restoration, transportation, recreation, and facilities. The intern will work with the Engineering group at the Umpqua National Forest on transportation and facilities projects. The Umpqua has developed a training plan to introduce interns to various aspects of civil engineering disciplines to provide a diverse experience. COMPENSATION:Hourly Rate, GS 4-1: $17.45 Housing and Living Allowance: $4,500 Boot Reimbursement: $450 Maximum. Education/ Training Reimbursement: $650 Maximum
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
PROJECT OVERVIEW: Engineers in the Forest Service provide technical support for a wide variety of projects in timber management, restoration, transportation, recreation, and facilities. The intern will work with the Engineering group at the Umpqua National Forest on transportation and facilities projects. The Umpqua has developed a training plan to introduce interns to various aspects of civil engineering disciplines to provide a diverse experience. Training objectives include interns becoming familiar with:Transportation Engineering. Bridge/ Structures Engineering. Facilities. Environmental Engineering. PUBLIC LAND CORPS (PLC) CAREER PATHWAY:Students that satisfactorily complete 640 hours of intern work through the PLC program can qualify to apply as an internal candidate for positions at the US Forest Service.
QUALIFICATIONS
UCC Student: Minimum of 6 credits at UCC in quarter either prior to or during internship. Educational reimbursement covers tuition and fees for 6 credits of Cooperative Work Experience Educational Pathway: Desire educational emphasis in Engineering Technology, Engineering, Forest Engineering, Surveying, or related field Oregon Driver’s License: Driver’s license required unless medical condition prevents licensing
