The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team. The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting a Supervisor, Facilities Bus. The Supervisor, Facilities Bus is technical and supervisory work of a moderately complex nature. Employees are primarily responsible for planning, coordinating and directing Local 1300 members and contracted in corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance and cleaning activities as well as other duties in support of the Administration's Transit Operations. Employees have latitude for independent judgment within established guidelines. Employees immediate managers are Assistant Superintendent & Superintendent of Facilities Bus or other designated officials. The current vacancy is located at the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) in Baltimore, Maryland. The current work schedule is Monday - Friday from 7:00 am-3:30 pm with Saturday & Sunday off.
Qualifications
Education: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Five (5) years of experience in repair, maintenance, installation, inspection, testing. Operation of either: electrical and HVAC systems, plumbing, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, fuel pumps and dispensing systems, or electro-mechanical and electronic systems. - Two (2) years of experience supervisory experience. Supervising foreman, leadman, crew chief. - This statement contains a selective qualification, which is more focused in scope that the minimum qualifications for this classification. Selective qualifications are utilized when the posting requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (i.e., knowledge, skill or ability). SUBSTITUTION INFORMATION: Additional education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at a rate of thirty credit hours for each year of the required experience for up to three years of experience. For every thirty credit hours, at least six credit hours must have been in electrical or mechanical engineering courses. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Employee may be subject to call-in 24 hours a day and may be required to maintain a reliable communication link for the purpose of emergency call back requirements. 2. Employee will be required to work shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekends. 3. Employee may be exposed to a variety of hazards, requiring the wearing of protective clothing and the use of appropriate safety and Personal Protective Equipment. 4. Employees in this position are considered "Essential Employees" and will be required to sign and agree to all policies and procedures relating to "Essential Employee" status. 5. Eligible applicants may be subject to a background investigation under Federal and State laws and regulations. A conviction is not an automatic disqualification to employment. Erroneous, misleading or fraudulent information on the application is sufficient grounds for rejection from the hiring process, removal from the list of eligibles, withdraw of an offer for employment or immediate discharge. 6. Employees in this classification are subject to pre-employment drug testing and substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49- Federal Department of Transportation Drug Alcohol Testing Protocols and Federal Transit Administration Alcohol Testing Rules, and Transportation Code of Maryland Regulations 11.02.11, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
Licenses & Certifications
Employees in this classification are assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
